Algae biofuels currently unsustainable says National Research Council (NRC) of the US National Academies, use too much water, energy, and fertilizer

10/24/12, Large-Scale Algae Biofuels Currently Unsustainable, New Report Concludes,” Science Insider

“A report out today from the National Research Council (NRC) of the U.S. National Academies says that large-scale production of biofuels from algae is untenable with existing technology, as it would require the use of too much water, energy, and fertilizer. To improve matters, the report’s authors suggest that the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), which supports much of the research in the field, should conduct assessments of proposed technologies that examine sustainability at all stages of fuel production, including growing or collecting algae and harvesting their oil and converting it into transportation fuels.

Efforts to make biofuel from algae have been under way for more than 3 decades, and have picked up considerable steam in recent years. Algae’s big advantage is that unlike traditional biofuels, such as ethanol made from corn kernels or sugar, algae wouldn’t compete for agricultural land with food crops. It also has the potential to produce as much as 10 times more fuel per hectare, according to the DOE’s 2010 National Algal Biofuels Technology Roadmap.

But there are many different approaches to growing algae, such as growing the microscopic plants in shallow outdoor ponds, or in enclosed plastic tubes called bioreactors. And the industry is far from settled on a single approach.

No matter what the strategy, however, the NRC committee concluded that current technology scaled up to produce 39 billion liters a year—approximately 5% of U.S. transportation fuel needs—would require an unsustainable level of inputs....via Free Republic

Commander in Chief Obama obviously let Woods and Doherty die so he could get re-elected. Why does Obama think the American people should re-elect a Commander in Chief who let Americans suffer brutal and agonizing deaths so he could get re-elected? Two people at the White House were sent email that Americans were attacked in Benghazi at 4:05pm. A State Dept. official watched the attacks ‘in real time.’ Tyrone Woods and Glen Doherty continued to fight for their lives and their country, all alone, wounded, for another 6+ hours

10/30/12, “Obama Met With Panetta and Biden at WH As Benghazi Terror Attack Unfolded,CNS News, T. Jeffrey

President Barack Obama met with Defense Secretary Leon Panetta and Vice President Joe Biden at the White House on Sept. 11, 2012 at 5:00 PM—just 55 minutes after the State Department notified the White House and the Pentagon that the U.S. diplomatic mission in Benghazi was under attack.

The meeting between Obama, Panetta and Biden had been scheduled before the attack took place, and the Department of Defense is not commenting now on whether the three men were aware when they met that day of the ongoing attack or whether Obama used that meeting to discuss with his defense secretary what should be done to defend the U.S. personnel who at that very moment were fighting for their lives in Benghazi….

The fact that the president had been scheduled to meet with Vice President Biden and Defense Secretary Panetta at 5:00 p.m. on Sept. 11 had been publicized  in the Washington Daybook–a planning service to which news organizations subscribe–and included on the official White House schedule posted online by the White House itself.

The State Department email notifying the White House and Pentagon of the Sept. 11 Benghazi attack was obtained by CBS News and reported by Sharyl Attkisson on Oct. 23, almost six weeks after the attack.

The terrorist attack on the U.S. consulate in Benghazi began at about 9:40 p.m. Benghazi time—or about 3:40 p.m. Washington, D.C. time. “The attack began at approximately 9:40 p.m. local time,” Deputy Assistant Secretary of State Charlene Lamb told the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee in written testimony submitted Oct. 10.

About 25 minutes after the attack started—at 4:05 p.m. Washington, D.C. time—the State Department sent an email that went to multiple recipients, including two at the White House and one at the Pentagon.

The subject line on this email said: “U.S. Diplomatic Mission in Benghazi Under Attack.” The text of the email said: “The Regional Security Officer reports the diplomatic mission is under attack. Embassy Tripoli reports approximately 20 armed people fired shots; explosions have been heard as well. Ambassador Stevens, who is currently in Benghazi, and our COM personnel are in the compound safe haven.” It went on to say: “The Operations Center will provide updates as available.”

In her testimony to the Oversight Committee, Charlene Lamb indicated that soon after the attack started, she was able to monitor it from Washington, D.C., in “almost real time.”

“When the attack began, a Diplomatic Security agent working in the Tactical Operations Center immediately activated the Imminent Danger Notification System and made an emergency announcement over the PA,” Lamb testified. “Based on our security protocols, he also alerted the annex U.S. quick reaction security team stationed nearby, the Libyan 17th February Brigade, Embassy Tripoli, and the Diplomatic Security Command Center in Washington. From that point on, I could follow what was happening in almost real-time.”…

When exactly did Obama learn that the U.S. diplomatic mission in Benghazi was under attack and whom did he order to do something about it? The White House is not saying….

Fred Lucas of CNSNews.com asked the White House on both Monday and Tuesday
to reveal exactly when Obama learned the U.S. mission in Benghazi was under attack

and who exactly Obama directed to “make sure that we are securing our personnel” there.

The White House did not respond.”…

If Obama is re-elected, NBC pal David Gregory should have his own desk next to Obama in the Oval Office. Gregory on Meet the Press interrupted mention of Benghazi saying, 'We'll get to that a bit later,' and of course never did, enabling Obama's 6 wks. of murderous lies to continue

NBC’s David Gregory interrupted and said, “We’ll get to that a bit later. Of course, he never did.

10/27/12, “What the Obama Administration does not want you to see, GretaWire, Greta Van Susteren, Fox News

There were many security cameras at the Benghazi US Consulate.  One camera was positioned to (and did) record Ambassador Stevens, on September 11, saying good night at 8:40pm Libya time to a Turkish Diplomat.

The video from this camera I am told – shows (and proves) there was NO PROTEST outside our Consulate.  The Obama Administration had that tape immediately and they knew what it showed and knew it immediately.  Anyone who watched the video observed the obvious.

Don’t you think the Obama Administration should release that video so that the American people can see for themselves what REALLY happened and not what the Obama Administration tried to feed them in the weeks after the terrorist attack?   They won’t release the tape – in fact, they are hiding the video tape from you by classifying it so that it remains out of our reach.

Frankly, that is the oldest trick in the book – classify it.  They don’t want you to see the tape and they don’t want you to know what THEY KNEW RIGHT AWAY.

The Obama Administration doesn’t even have to release the entire tape (although they should) — I just want to see the few minutes before our Ambassador and the Turkish Diplomat walked out of the Consulate….and a few minutes after the Turkish Diplomat leaves and the Ambassador returns insides.

If the Obama Administration won’t release the video how about still frames from the video?

How could they deny the American people at least that now?

Releasing the video (or stills from the video) now would in no way jeopardize the Obama Administration’s internal investigation.  The video is what the video is.  If someone appears in the who might have reason not to have his identity disclosed (security), his of her face can be blurred. That is simple.

Release the video would be a good faith showing that the White House is not hiding anything and really does believe in the transparency the President promised when he ran in 2008….

Richmond Times-Dispatch endorses Mitt Romney, endorsed Obama in 2008. "It is with considerable urgency time to change….Repeal of ObamaCare may be most effective stimulus….Instead of post-partisan, Obama has been most partisan president"

10/28/12, “Prudent Change: Romney promises hope for recovery,” Richmond Times-Dispatch Editorial

The tone of the 2012 campaign might best be captured by the need to begin with an emphasis on what the Republican candidate will not do. Mitt Romney will not raise taxes on the middle class. He will not destroy Medicare. And he will not lie to the American people every time he opens his mouth.

Political campaigns exaggerate grossly, play loose with the facts and cast the opposition in the worst light imaginable. Yet it is difficult to recall a campaign less truthful than President Obama’s in 2012. Its foundation rests on deeply misleading assertions about Romney, a strategy made inevitable by the current administration’s weak record.

Barack Obama’s accomplishments are too few to merit re-election. So he attacks.

His offense is intended to distract from policies that have led to nearly four years of economic stagnation, stubbornly high unemployment, collapsing middle-class incomes, increasing rates of poverty, rising prices for life’s most basic necessities — and shrinking American influence around the globe.

Obama has proven, in Americans’ real-world experience, that massive government spending, suffocating regulatory expansion, feckless diplomacy and exploding debt do not foster peace and prosperity. Quite the opposite. It is — with considerable urgency — time to change.

*****
The Obama campaign has chosen a novel approach, claiming, in essence, that the Republican nominee means nothing that he says, except when it serves the needs of the incumbent. Thus, the relentless palaver about higher taxes and crashing entitlements, all delivered under the deceptive cover of “bipartisan” studies and “impossible” math. And then there’s the master of smirk, Joe Biden, hanging around just for laughs.

In the service of accuracy, let’s look at the generally straightforward proposals and philosophy espoused by Romney, who strikes us as both more earnest and more accomplished than your average presidential candidate.

Romney understands the value of free enterprise, appreciates its utterly unique ability to alleviate poverty, unleash creative endeavor, spread wealth and lift the burden of ceaseless backbreaking labor. In this year’s presidential campaign, he is alone in that respect.

Romney’s plan to spur economic growth — a phrase that seems absent from the Obama vocabulary — offers a plausible and pragmatic path to a more energized private sector, the essential element in reviving a robust economy that builds jobs, raises individual incomes, rewards innovation and halts the suicidal expansion of public debt.
He promises to:
  • use America’s abundant energy resources to drive growth;
  • cut the deficit by reducing federal spending to 20 percent of the economy or less;
  • open new markets overseas for American goods and services while defending U.S. interests abroad;
reform and simplify the tax code by lowering rates for individuals and businesses while eliminating deductions and exemptions that distort economic decisions, slow growth and favor the politically powerful.

These statements of principle are sound and strike an important contrast with Obama.

*****
Romney will improve a dysfunctional tax system
, as did Ronald Reagan, to encourage work, investment and risk-taking. Less complexity means less corruption and cronyism. By contrast, Obama claims a $60 billion annual tax increase on higher-income Americans, including successful small businesses, will magically erase trillion-dollar deficits while providing extra cash for education, medicine, research and all-around middle-class happiness.

Obama pretends that Republican reformers pose the only real threats to Medicare and Medicaid. Romney acknowledges that these programs face forced marches to bankruptcy unless someone has the courage to fix them. He promises to examine means-testing, market solutions, competition and state-level innovation. His is a progressive approach.

Romney also promises to repeal Obamacare a singularly necessary step to restore America’s entrepreneurial spirit — and replace it with reforms that will not bust the budget, not trample individual rights, not undermine the independence of patients and medical professionals. Turns out, an economic crisis is no time to insist on an overwhelming and incoherent government program that does little to solve problems but much to suppress job-creation. Repeal may be the most effective stimulus package passed in nearly a decade.

National security ranks as any president’s first duty to his countrymen. Obama’s record on foreign affairs, while perhaps less disturbing than his dismal performance on domestic matters, nevertheless fails to inspire confidence. Romney’s analysis at VMI earlier this month is accurate:

“The president is fond of saying that ‘The tide of war is receding.‘ And I want to believe him as much as anyone. But when we look at the Middle East today — with Iran closer than ever to nuclear weapons capability, with the conflict in Syria threatening to destabilize the region, with violent extremists on the march, and with an American ambassador and three others dead likely at the hands of al-Qaida affiliates — it is clear that the risk of conflict in the region is higher now than when the president took office.”

And Romney correctly diagnoses the root cause of Obama’s failure to make the world safer for Americans and for liberty:

“I believe that if America does not lead, others will — others who do not share our interests and our values — and the world will grow darker, for our friends and for us. America’s security and the cause of freedom cannot afford four more years like the last four years. I am running for president because I believe the leader of the free world has a duty, to our citizens, and to our friends everywhere, to use America’s great influence — wisely, with solemnity and without false pride, but also firmly and actively — to shape events in ways that secure our interests, further our values, prevent conflict, and make the world better — not perfect, but better.”

This is the right approach, expressed with the appropriate mix of confidence, clarity and humility. Romney is ready to take command, as he demonstrated in Monday’s debate.

* * * * *
Four years ago, Barack Obama’s campaign and election generated remarkable pride and optimism, even among many of those who did not vote for him. He seemed filled with promise.

But his presidency has been filled with disappointment and failure. Those issues that inspired the most passion among his supporters — principally having to do with the war powers of the executive and the tension between civil liberty and national security — have been the ones on which his promise-breaking has been most feckless.

Obama’s policies have paralyzed our country’s economy and pushed its budget to the brink of catastrophe. Our allies abroad are nervous, our enemies encouraged.

And yet the president offers no change and little hope. His campaign has hit a single endless negative note, one that ultimately rings false.

Perhaps most disappointing has been the president’s divisive rhetoric and his inability to forge alliances with the opposing party to find solutions. Republicans share the blame for the angry tone in American politics, but it was Obama who pledged just four years ago to bridge the gap between red and blue, liberal and conservative. Instead, the man who sold himself as our first post-partisan president has proved to be our most partisan president.

During the debates, the president’s personal attacks on his opponent were, most often, met with strong but dignified answers. The president showed himself to be the less presidential of the two contenders. As a result, we know now who is better suited to lead a great but troubled nation.

Mitt Romney has succeeded as a family man, governor, entrepreneur, Olympic leader. He is a man of character, a problem-solver, a turnaround specialist. He has earned our enthusiastic endorsement. America needs President Romney.” via Free Republic

Obama has been sitting on Benghazi attack video for 6 wks., on Oct. 26 Obama lied, said he gives ‘all Benghazi information to the American people and congress as he gets it,’ claims congress is ‘politicizing,’ but it’s Obama who politicizes and lies about brutal American murders and the hours these men fought to stay alive by claiming video is ‘classified’

Obama to the Des Moines Register, ““I want your endorsement. You’ll feel better when you give it,he concluded in his phone conversation with them.”

10/27/12, “Des Moines Register endorses Romney, ending Democratic streak, LA Times, Seema Mehta

“Four years ago, the Iowa caucuses launched Obama’s presidential bid, and he handily won the state in the general election. The Register endorsed him, impressed with his background, his calls for Americans to come together and his positions on  the economic crises that unfolded in the final months of the campaign.

This time around, the paper offers a sober assessment of his tenure, and his potential.

“The president’s best efforts to resuscitate the stumbling economy have fallen short. Nothing indicates it would change with a second term in the White House,” the paper wrote.
It’s unclear how much newspaper endorsements matter to voters, given that many gravitate toward media outlets that align with their political views. But the endorsement is notable because of the Register’s long history of supporting Democrats – the last Republican they endorsed was President Nixon in 1972.

And it may offer a window into the mood of heartland voters in a state that is a crucial battleground. Romney has been trying to court past Obama supporters there by focusing on the nation’s debt, a theme that resonates among many in a frugal state that has the lowest per capita credit card debt in  the nation.

Obama gave a nod to the newspaper’s importance when, after speaking with the editorial board, he had a separate conversation two weeks later with the paper’s editor and publisher.
“I want your endorsement. You’ll feel better when you give it,” he (Obama) concluded in his phone conversation with them.

Romney tweeted his appreciation for the paper’s endorsement. “We need Iowa to help get America back on track. I am honored to have the @DMRegister’s endorsement,” he wrote.

The news of the endorsement broke Saturday while Romney was speaking to 15,000 supporters at a rally on a high school football field here, capping a three-event day stumping in Florida.

“America’s going to win,” Romney said. “We’re going to make the change in November that will bring the real change that we need.””

Des Moines Register endorses Mitt Romney, first Republican to win its endorsement since 1972

10/27/12, The Register endorsement: Mitt Romney offers a fresh economic vision,” Des Moines Register

Ten months ago this newspaper endorsed former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney for the Republican nomination for president. An overarching consideration was which of the party’s candidates could we see occupying the White House, and there was no question that Romney was qualified for the job.

Now, in the closing days of the general election campaign, the question is which of the two contenders deserves to be the next president of the United States.

Both President Barack Obama and Governor Romney are superbly qualified. Both are graduates of the Harvard University Law School who have distinguished themselves in government, in public service and in private life. Both are devoted husbands and fathers.

American voters are deeply divided about this race. The Register’s editorial board, as it should, had a vigorous debate over this endorsement. Our discussion repeatedly circled back to the nation’s single most important challenge: pulling the economy out of the doldrums, getting more Americans back in the workforce in meaningful jobs with promising futures, and getting the federal government on a track to balance the budget in a bipartisan manner that the country demands.

Which candidate could forge the compromises in Congress to achieve these goals? When the question is framed in those terms, Mitt Romney emerges the stronger candidate.

The former governor and business executive has a strong record of achievement in both the private and the public sectors. He was an accomplished governor in a liberal state. He founded and ran a successful business that turned around failing companies. He successfully managed the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City.

Romney has made rebuilding the economy his No. 1 campaign priority — and rightly so.” via Battleground Watch blog

David Roberts of Grist pins stall of CO2 terror movement in US on Tea Party racism. Apparently Roberts has never heard of Tea Party favorite Allen West. What would Roberts do without the race card? It’s all he has.

10/22/12, Climate silence: It’s the right, stupid,” David Roberts, Grist

The only thing I’d add to all this climate-silence talk — because I haven’t seen it mentioned much — is that the retreat of climate from U.S. politics is not something that happened slowly and gradually. It was a fairly sharp break.

Throughout the decade from 1998 to 2008, Democrats swung around more solidly behind climate concern, but Republican sentiment stayed roughly steady. Right around 2008, however, there was a sharp uptick in skepticism about climate change, almost exclusively among far-right conservatives.

Now, what happened in 2008 that might have turned conservatives against climate? Hm … thinking … wait, wasn’t there an election that year? Why yes, I believe there was.
  • Black Democrat took office, as I recall.
The sharp conservative turn against climate was part and parcel of the Tea Party phenomenon. When Obama and congressional Democrats championed legislation to address climate change — legislation not that different from what McCain championed in 2008 — the right immediately aligned against it, like a school of fish….

It’s not “the public” that’s behind the shift on climate. It’s the right-wing. It’s asymmetrical polarization. Until we discuss it in those terms, we won’t understand it or be able to address it.” via Tom Nelson

Here is the statement released by Senator Neal Kedzie:

Early on Friday morning, October 19th, my son Sean was awakened by noises outside his residence in Whitewater. As he went to see what the commotion was about, he noticed an individual removing a Romney/Ryan yard sign from his property. He yelled to the person that they were taking something not theirs and to return it immediately.

The individual returned the sign, however, a second person confronted and attacked Sean without warning.

Sean was wrestled to the ground by both persons, held down by a constricting chokehold, and struck repeatedly about the face and head.

He nearly passed out from the chokehold and suffered contusions to his face and eyes.

Fortunately, an alert neighbor heard the commotion, scared the individuals away, and called the police.

My wife and I were awakened by a telephone call from Sean’s roommate that Sean had been taken by ambulance to Fort Atkinson Memorial Hospital.

Sean was treated for his injuries and released from the hospital the same day.
As this was a private family matter, we chose not to remark publicly about it and allow law enforcement to do their job. But we understand these types of incidents will eventually become public and questions will arise, particularly in my position as a state legislator.

Sean is still recovering from the injuries he sustained as a result of this beating, and we are confident he will make a full recovery.

But obviously, as parents, we are shaken by this event and very troubled it was apparently initiated and motivated for political reasons.” via Free Republic

CIA told Obama administration within 24 hours that Benghazi attack was planned by militants and not spontaneous-AP

10/19/12, "Day after Libya attack, CIA found militant links," AP, Kimberly Dozier, via USA Today

"The CIA station chief in Libya reported to Washington within 24 hours of last month's deadly attack on the U.S. Consulate that there was evidence it was carried out by militants, not a spontaneous mob upset about an American-made video ridiculing Islam's Prophet Muhammad, U.S. officials have told The Associated Press.

It is unclear who, if anyone, saw the cable outside the CIA at that point and how high up in the agency the information went. The Obama administration maintained publicly for a week that the attack on the diplomatic mission in Benghazi that killed U.S. Ambassador Chris Stevens and three other Americans was a result of the mobs that staged less-deadly protests across the Muslim world around the 11th anniversary of the 9/11 terror attacks on the U.S."...via Michael Savage

John Taylor drove his family here from Dunnellon in an RV, and they arrived around 2. Taylor, a Vietnam veteran who voted for Barack Obama in 2008,

said he’s been out of work for about three years, long enough to fall out of the unemployment numbers.

“The last four years have been no changes, and the hope has gone out the window,” Taylor said.

Taylor brought his 19- and 11-year-old kids to the rally because he feels this election is most important to them.

This is part of history, and I think it’s important we back somebody in a critical time, particularly for our kids,” he said. “This debt that we’re passing on is scary.”"…

EU puts cap on food-based biofuels, lack of benefit to environment, high food prices, 900 million poor hungry-BBC

10/17/12, EU acts against harm from biofuel crops, BBC

The EU is changing its policy on biofuels to encourage energy production from waste rather than from food crops.

The European Commission says clearing land in order to plant biofuel crops can often cancel out the environmental benefits of biofuel. In some cases forests are chopped down.

The EU is putting a cap of 5% on the food-based biofuel allowed in the renewable energy used in transport. The EU’s total renewable energy target for transport fuel is 10% by 2020.
The Commission will change the 2009 Renewable Energy Directive and the 1998 Fuel Quality Directive. New biofuel installations will have to meet a minimum 60% threshold in terms of their efficiency in reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

BBC environment analyst Roger Harrabin says some environmentalists had supported the biofuel laws in the first instance, before the side-effects became understood.

The UN has appointed a special rapporteur on biofuels who has sharply criticised the direct and indirect effects of biofuels on the poor.

Now the EU is trying to shift biofuel production from food crops to farm waste, algae and straw.

Clearing land to plant food for biofuel releases the greenhouse gas carbon dioxide (CO2) through ploughing and can involve deforestation, which reduces the “carbon sinks” – the trees that absorb CO2.

A spokeswoman for the poverty action group Oxfam, Tracy Carty, welcomed the EU’s new 5% cap but said the proposal would not go far enough. “The cap is higher than the current levels of biofuels use and will do nothing to reduce high food prices,” she said.

“The British government must up the pressure on other European member states to scrap its current targets and end all support for biofuels. With close to 900 million people going hungry every day, we cannot continue diverting valuable food into fuel.”

Earlier, the EU Commissioner for Climate Action, Connie Hedegaard, said: “We must invest in biofuels that achieve real emission cuts and do not compete with food.

“We are of course not closing down first generation biofuels, but we are sending a clear signal that future increases in biofuels must come from advanced biofuels.”

The European Renewable Ethanol Association (ePURE) rejected the suggestion that biofuel crops were putting too much pressure on food production.

“Global grain use for biofuels is miniscule and nowhere near enough to inflate prices significantly. Singling out biofuels for blame for rising food prices is simply reckless and only serves to damage public confidence in good biofuels”, said ePURE’s Secretary General Rob Vierhout.

“Europe has enough grain to produce both its food and fuel needs,” he added.”

For every person added to labor force since Obama inauguration, 10 have been removed from labor force

10/15/12, "For Every Person Added to Labor Force, 10 Added to Those Not in Labor Force," Daniel Halper, Weekly Standard

"A new chart from the minority side of the Senate Budget Committee details the fact that, since January 2009, for every person added to the labor force, 10 have been added to those not in the labor force....

Update: Senator Jeff Sessions, the ranking member of the Senate Budget Committee, comments: “The essential point of this chart is not simply how many people are employed or unemployed, but to illustrate that more and more people are simply not part of the U.S. labor force. This confirms that we are on the wrong track. It is unsustainable to have such a large and growing number of people who are not part of the productive economy. This is not a political argument, but a description of the underlying instability in our economy that has so many Americans worried about the future. The question is what can we do to reverse these trends and start moving in the right direction.”"

October 2012 Empire Manufacturing report contracts for third month in a row

10/15/12, "New York Manufacturing Activity Stays Weak" MarketWatch.com, Greg Robb

"The Empire State manufacturing index increased slightly but remained in negative territory for the third straight month, the New York Federal Reserve Bank said Monday. The index rose to negative 6.2 in October from negative 10.4 in September, which was its weakest reading in almost two years. Economists polled by MarketWatch expected the index to improve to negative 4.0. The key new orders sub-index rose to negative 9.0 in October from negative 14.0 in September.

However, unfilled orders, another forward-looking component, fell to negative 18.3 in October from negative 14.9 in September. Employment conditions weakened, with the index for number of employees falling to negative 1.1 from 4.3 in the previous month. An index of expectations of activity six months ahead slipped to 19.4 in October from 27.2 in September. While positive, it is well below levels seen earlier in the year." via Zero Hedge

Fact check on Joe Biden mocking claim about JFK, Biden knows we have text and video of JFK 1962 speech advocating tax cuts and expansion of private sector. Biden used mockery to deflect the truth, JFK would be mocked by today's ultra left Democrat party

10/12/12, "Flashback: JFK's 1962 Speech Advocating Tax Cuts,"
RushLimbaugh.com (transcript and video below)

"Now, last night in the debate, Paul Ryan made reference to the fact that his tax plan is no different than Ronaldus Magnus and no different than JFK. At which point Joey said, (imitating Biden) "Ho, so, so now you're Jack Kennedy, too, huh, kid?" And Ryan said, "I'm closer to him than you are." ...I think -we were the first popular, major media outlet to dredge up a speech made by President Kennedy, 1962, December 14th, in New York City at the New York Economic Club. It was JFK making the case for tax cuts as a means of growing the economy....

There is no Democrat alive today who would make this speech. If JFK were alive today and hadn't changed, he wouldn't find room for himself in the Democrat Party. The things that JFK says in this speech are daily mocked, laughed at, impugned, made fun of, and the people who believe in these things are targeted for personal destruction....Here they are...from 1962.

KENNEDY: "This administration pledged itself last summer to an across-the-board, top-to-bottom cut in personal and corporate income taxes to be enacted and become effective in 1963. I am not talking about a quickie or a temporary tax cut which would be more appropriate if a recession were imminent. Nor am I talking about giving the economy a mere shot in the arm to ease some temporary complaint. The federal government's most useful role is not to rush into a program of excessive increases in public expenditures, but to expand the incentives and opportunities
  •  of private expenditures....
When consumers purchase more goods, plants use more of their capacity, men are hired instead of laid off, investment increases, and profits are high. Corporate tax rates must also be cut to increase incentives and the availability of investment capital. The government has already taken major steps this year to reduce business tax liability and to stimulate the modernization, replacement, and expansion of our productive plant and equipment....

Our true choice is not between tax reduction on the one hand and the avoidance of large federal deficits on the other. It is increasingly clear that no matter what party is in power, so long as our national security needs keep rising, an economy hampered by restrictive tax rates will never produce enough revenues to balance our budget, just as it will never produce enough jobs or enough profits. Surely the lesson of the last decade is that

budget deficits are not caused by wild-eyed spenders,

but by slow economic growth and periodic recessions,

and any new recession would break all deficit records. In short, it is a paradoxical truth that tax rates are too high today and tax revenues are too low. And the soundest way to raise the revenues in the long run is to cut the rates now."...

Rush: "Paul Ryan, the Republican vice presidential nominee, cited this speech, cited JFK, as saying, "This is what we, Mitt Romney and I, believe in," and it was pooh-poohed, laughed at, and discarded very sarcastically and cynically by the Democrat vice president, Joe Biden. ...

The first time we aired those JFK tax cut sound bites...somebody in the media went to Ted Kennedy and asked him about them. He was furious. He was livid. I was trying to hijack and distort his brother's memory. I had no business doing it. It was uncouth and vulgar to go back and dredge up these words of his assassinated brother. He was furious about it. I'm telling you, there isn't a Democrat, there's not a popular elected Democrat today -- forget popular -- not an elected Democrat today who would say what you heard president JFK say in 1962.

Folks, the point of the illustration is to show you how far left the Democrat Party has become, and it is not your father's or your grandfather's Democrat Party. The Democrat Party is what you saw out of Joe Biden last night."
