Trump supporters on CNN: 'Immigration is not a right, it's a privilege.' 12/10/15

12/10/15, "I am a Trump supporter: Voters speak out," CNN,

"Donald Trump's supporters are pissed off, fiercely loyal, and as surprising as the candidate himself.

For almost five months, thousands of voters across the country — many of them disenchanted with the political establishment, fearful that their country is under attack, and desperate to find inspiration in the 2016 campaign — have fueled the Trump phenomenon.

As the billionaire business mogul has broken the conventional rules of politics time and time again this year, his supporters have remained steadfast and loyal, showing remarkable resistance to the stream of criticism that skeptics have thrown Trump's way. And their numbers are growing; Trump was at 36% among Republican leaning voters in a CNN poll this month -- the broadest support yet for the GOP frontrunner.

Now, many are digging in their heels as the candidate fights off intense backlash from his latest and most controversial comments yet about banning all Muslims from entering the United States

Citing the "Republican Party's impotence" and marveling at Trump's "unvarnished" persona, nine Trump supporters shed light on what's behind their allegiance to Trump in an extended interview on "New Day" with CNN's Alisyn Camerota Thursday (12/10).

The direction of the Republican Party hinges on Trump's presidential campaign — and his supporters. Thursday's interview is just one slice of CNN's continued reporting on the the American voters that are propelling Trump's candidacy.

Here are a few of the highlights:...
.......
"Immigration's not a right, it's a privilege."

Trump unleashed a fresh wave of controversy when he called for a travel ban on Muslims, and the panel of his supporters backed him on it.

"If we wanted, as a nation, we could keep everybody out of the country," William Baer said. So why just Muslims? Josh Youssef from New Hampshire said it seems that a majority of the recent terror activities have been perpetrated by Muslims, and Gerald DeLemus from New Hampshire said he believes that the teachings of the Quran conflict with the United States Constitution.

However, John Hikel from New Hampshire said while he doesn't think Trump's proposal is unreasonable, he is uncomfortable with painting with a broad brush, and the group discussed their positive experiences with Muslims....

"Had we had a couple of people that could legally carry a handgun in that room, maybe we wouldn't have seen that issue at all."

The gun control debate ignites each time there's a mass shooting, and Trump has been outspoken on the issue. His supporters say they want to keep their guns: "Let's take away all the guns from the citizens, what happens? Only the criminals now have guns," said Paula Yoel Johnson from New Hampshire.

"Donald Trump represents the American party."

Trump told CNN's Don Lemon that an Independent run isn't out of the question yet. He and his supporters want more respect from the Republican establishment. "For them to go out and back stab him like this, you know what? I'm done with the Republican party," Johnson said. She will go with him if he runs as a third-party candidate, and says she'll bring her people with her....

"My president comes on TV and he lies to me."

Susan Demelus of New Hampshire, a state representative who has previously said she doesn't believe President Barack Obama was born in the United States, didn't mince words when it came to other politicians. Many of them lie straight to her face, she said. And her fellow Trump supporters agreed, defending their candidate's claims that thousands of people celebrated on 9/11 in New Jersey. Paul DiBartolo of New York said that what Trump and his supporters care about are the people directly affected by the terror attacks, and that he "could care less about a few Muslims or a few people that are upset."...

"I feel a lot safer knowing that Mr. Trump will be our president."

The bottom line? Trump supporters trust the billionaire. DiBartolo said he's "100% comfortable" with Trump's relationship with "the truth," and Susan Demelus echoed his sentiments: "I don't believe any one of (the politicians). Not one. I believe Donald."

Comment: What's "surprising" is that we have a candidate who'll go through living hell for us. As to "the Republican Party's impotence," the GOP happily ceased to exist after Nov. 2008 and settled back to enjoy life as part of the Democrat/media/globalist Party. It re-emerged only to beat back concerned citizens who knew the US couldn't survive without two distinct and healthy political parties at least one of which put America first. More recently, world events have exposed the powerlessness of mainstream political parties.

12/8/15, "Europe may be witness to a new political era," BBC, Gavin Hewitt

"It is an era marked by events that emphasise the powerlessness of those in power - migration, terrorism, the force of change driven by technology.

The mainstream parties are weakened.

It is open season for the Trumps and Le Pens who declare they speak for the people."...

"What Trump offers is permission to conceive of an American interest as a national interest separate from the “international community”....

Nothing is more terrifying to the elite than Trump’s embrace of a tangible American nationalism....The critical question, however, is not the source of Trump’s popularity but rather the reason his popularity is so shocking to our political culture....

Trump shows that what is most in demand...is not ideological purity but patriotic zeal....

Trump alone appears to understand that politics is more than policy and ideology."...

8/18/15, "Trump: Giving Voice to the American "Subconscious"," Diana West

"To say the Media-Political Complex has really lost its cool over Donald Trump, also every marble, is barest understatement....

Before Trump, the American "subconscious," circa 2015, would never "originally think" a US border was possible, let alone a wall; immigration restriction was possible, let alone a halt; immigration law enforcement was possible; the deportation of illegal families was possible; restoration of American citizenship as a privilege, not a stolen good, was possible; jobs for Americans were possible; and the rest. Donald Trump, bless him, has changed the American subconscious, giving voice to Americans long conditioned into silence by this same Media-Political Complex. And there is nothing, but nothing, they can do about it now."

"The debate is over."...

10/20/2011, "The Lost Decade," Angelo M. Codevilla, Claremont Institute (2001-2011)

"Rule by Experts" (subhead, scroll down)

"Decision-making by "experts" rather than by people and procedures responsible to the American people has always been American progressives' prescription for American life. During the past decade, the pretense that America was at war has given this practice a major boost. For example, official and semi-official panels of experts from government, business, and the academy generated "studies" on the energy and health-care sectors of the economy. Based on these, the government promulgated regulations and presented Congress with demands that it approve massive legislation to "stop global warming" and to "establish universal medical care." These government-business-academic experts, i.e. this ruling class, presented their plans as demands because, they shouted,

"the debate is over,"

and opponents are not qualified to oppose.
Regardless of these demands' merits, such claims to authority are based strictly on the proponents' credentials. My point, however, is that these credentials are based largely on the government endowing these proponents with positions and money. As President Dwight D. Eisenhower warned in his farewell address, such expertise is a circular function of government power.
.
The event for which the decade is most likely to be remembered, namely the "great recession," was a similar phenomenon. When the financial bubble in mortgage-backed securities burst in 2008, the leaders of both parties, and pundits from the New York Times to the Wall Street Journal, assured Congress authoritatively that appropriating some $800 billion for the Treasury to buy up "toxic assets" would fix the problem. Three out of four Americans dissented, in part because of widespread recognition that the U.S. government's increase in expenditures from $1.86 trillion in 2001 to $2.9 trillion in 2008, due in part to the war, was unsustainable. Yet Congress bowed to "expert" opinion. But the markets tanked, the fix did not work, and the economic collapse gathered momentum. The subsequent Democratic administration increased spending even more radically, to $3.7 trillion, roughly doubling federal expenses in a decade, and pushed the national debt over $14 trillion—almost equal to America's GDP. By 2011, 40 cents out of every federal dollar spent had to be borrowed. .

As a prescription for salvation, the very same spectrum of experts that had certified the efficacy of bailing out big banks emphasized to Congress that the country needed to borrow more money and pay more taxes. Three fourths of Americans wanted neither to borrow more nor to pay more. The experts labeled them "irresponsible" and even "terrorists."

The markets tanked again, and the great recession got a second wind."...

Comment #2: Honorable mention goes to the NY Times and Fox News for helping their GOP E pals keep alive the fantasy that the GOP is a functioning political party opposing the democrats. GOP E pal NY Times hasn't endorsed a Republican for president since 1956. Not that the GOP has run such great candidates. Running crappy candidates (like Bush #1, Dole, McCain, and Romney) and its candidate doing a terrible job if he happens to win (Bush #2) ensure that a political party doesn't get too popular.
