"Police apprehend Lisa Joy Simon at a June 10, 2017 rally in Harrisburg."

"A protester is accused of hitting a state police horse with a flagpole topped with a nail during a rally Saturday at the state Capitol.

Lisa Joy Simon, 23, of Philadelphia, is accused of using a flagpole with a silver nail sticking one-half inch out of the top to hit state police horse Sampson, Harrisburg police said.

Simon was with the group AntiFA, [“anti-fascist”] police said, which was protesting against the "March Against Sharia promoted by ACT for America....

State police said other protesters were seen carrying weapons such as sharpened bamboo poles and baseball bats.

During the rally, a state police corporal with Sampson were trying to move the crowd from blocking the 1200 block of North Sixth Street onto the sidewalk.

Police accuse Simon of hitting the horse in the side of the neck while obstructing troopers from performing their duties to move the crowd onto the sidewalk. Simon is also accused of resisting Harrisburg police officers who were trying to make the arrest. The trooper and horse were able to continue working with minimal injury, police said.

Simon is charged with aggravated assault to police, trauma to police animals, prohibited offensive weapons, obstruction to law enforcement function, resisting arrest and disorderly conduct. Simon was placed in Dauphin County prison in lieu of $100,000 bail, and her preliminary hearing is scheduled for July 6.

June 12, 2017, "UPDATE: ANTIFA Demonstrator attacks police horse during March against Sharia in Harrisburg," fox43.com, Valerie Waltz, Harrisburg, Pa.

"A Philadelphia woman is facing charges after she attacked a police horse with a flag pole during a demonstration in Harrisburg on Saturday morning.

Lisa Simon, 23, is charged with aggravated assault, illegally taunting a police animal, prohibited offensive weapons, disorderly conduct, resisting arrest and obstruction administrative law. She was arraigned and taken to Dauphin County Prison in lieu of $100,000 bail.

The incident [by an Antifa counter protester] unfolded during a demonstration"...

[Ed. note: The "incident" didn't "unfold" during a demonstration. The violent act against a defenseless animal was willfully perpetrated by one among a group of counterprotesters to an anti-sharia demonstration.]

(continuing): "at the Pennsylvania State Capitol Complex in Harrisburg shortly after 11:30 a.m. on Saturday. The demonstration was part of “March Against Sharia.” The demonstration was scheduled to take place in more than 20 cities, including New York, Dallas and Atlanta, and was projected to be ACT for America’s largest protest against Sharia Law.

Harrisburg Police tell FOX43, Simon was with a group of ANTIFA counter-protesters. On the South Jersey ANTIFA Facebook page, the group writes:

“A comrade was arrested while trying to demonstrate against an anti-Muslim rally [not accurate-it was an anti-sharia rally, meaning against Islamic law being absorbed into US government-not Muslims] in Harrisburg, PA. The charges are entirely fabricated and do not reflect what actually happened during the incident. The bail is set at an extraordinary $100,000. It is clear that this person is being held as a political prisoner, and we must make it known that we will not be intimidated by a militarized police,"...

[Ed. note: What's your advice for defenseless police horses who feel "intimidated?" What's their recourse for being restrained, taunted, and smacked in the neck with a nail-studded pole?]

(continuing): "that we will remain resolute in standing by the values of our movement, and that we will continue to combat fascism wherever it attempts to spread.”

During the rally, multiple mounted Pennsylvania State Police Troopers and Harrisburg Police assisted with crowd control as demonstrators moved from the steps of the Capitol throughout the midtown area.

Simon attacked the horse with a flag pole as a Trooper and his equine partner, Sampson, were attempting to move the crowd along the 1200 block of North 6th Street, police said.

The flag pole had a silver nail at the top and Simon hit Sampson in the side of his neck, according to police reports.

Police took Simon into custody and she resisted, records show. Sampson suffered minimal injuries and was able to continue working.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for July 6."

Philly.com omits the Harrisburg animal abuser's affiliation and reason for being at the protest. The abuser was a counterprotester from the Antifa group. She wasn't with the group holding a rally against implementation of Sharia law in the US.

June 12, 2017, "Philly woman charged with attacking police horse at protest," Philly.com, Robert Moran

"A 23-year-old Philadelphia woman was arrested Saturday in Harrisburg after she allegedly attacked a state police horse with a flag pole [with a nail protruding (why omit this?)] during a protest, authorities said.

Lisa Joy Simon was still in custody Monday night at the Dauphin County Prison in lieu of $100,000 bail on charges of aggravated assault to police, taunting police animals, resisting arrest, and related offenses.

Shortly after 11:30 a.m Saturday mounted officers with the Pennsylvania State Police and Harrisburg Police were conducting crowd control at an Act For America rally against Islamic religious laws being followed in the United States.

A state police corporal and his horse, Sampson, were attempting to move a crowd from the street onto a sidewalk in the 1200 block of Sixth Street when Simon allegedly struck the horse in the side of the neck with the flag pole, which has a silver nail on the tip. Harrisburg police officers tried to arrest her and she resisted, police said.

Sampson and the corporal were able to continue working with minimal injuries, police said."
